The RBZ Advantage

Training

At RBZ, new professional staff are in a two-year development program, RBZ Advantage™, which introduces recent college graduates to the nuances of our firm and aspects of our profession while developing the broad business skills our professionals will need to support their success.

We approach training like your college curriculum. As an entry-level professional, we present you with a core selection of classes to introduce you to the basic skills you will need for auditing and tax return preparation. These skills help get you up and running and range from audit testing to tax research to workpaper preparation. Our training is done in-house by our professionals and select outside instructors. You will continually be with your peer group, so it’s a fun and a rich learning experience.

As you develop into a supervisor, your coursework offerings parallel what you experience in the “upper division.” Training will focus on more technically challenging management skills, project planning and performance management. As you start to concentrate on an area of specialization in one of our niche groups, you will focus more of your training on electives and emerging issues.

Although much of your training will be on-the-job, you will want more and you will need more in today’s dynamic business environment.

Career Shaping

We understand that it isn’t realistic for a new professional to know if he or she has a dedicated career interest in audit versus tax. Therefore, your first two years will be a combination of audit and tax assignments providing you with a balanced experience so you can gravitate more towards a function that you are interested in. It’s about your choice and giving you the type of experiences that will help to develop you into a well-rounded professional.

Once you decide on a function, you will probably select a niche group to practice and specialize in. It’s said that those who perform well love what they’re doing. We believe this too. When you have a choice, it increases the chances of discovering which career path you truly want to pursue.

Counseling

Performance needs to be measured and it has to be communicated in order for people to understand and take action from it. The RBZ performance feedback and counseling program is confidential, consistent and timely, and we take a lot of pride in it. Counseling sessions accompany performance evaluations and provide an opportunity for our professionals to receive feedback on their performance, discuss professional interests and develop action steps for their career plan and direction twice, not once, per year.

Mentoring

What successful person hasn’t had a mentor? The word mentor is traditionally defined as a “trusted and wise counselor.” Mentoring is different from counseling by virtue of the fluid nature of it. Mentors are usually sought by the person looking for advice and guidance about a wide range of topics, both personal and professional.

Mentors provide powerful tools and guidance to their advisees in order to steer them towards success. There is no more powerful developmental activity than mentoring, and at RBZ, we don’t just believe in it, we live it.

The RBZ Mentoring Program provides a mentor upon starting your career at RBZ, but later on, you may select whomever you feel is right for you. It’s about having choices that are best for you and your career.
