David Roberts

David Roberts serves as RBZ’s Managing Partner and Partner-in-Charge of the Law Firm Services Group. With more than 110 professionals and 14 partners, RBZ is one of the largest public accounting firms in Southern California. RBZ’s Law Firm Services Group works with more law firm clients than any other CPA firm in the western United States.

In his role as Managing Partner, David’s primary responsibility is the stewardship of the firm’s vision, which encompasses strategies for growth, integrating the highest level of client service throughout the firm, ensuring that our people receive the highest level of technical training and professional development, maintaining the firm’s culture and promoting RBZ’s reputation in the market place.

As Partner-in-Charge of RBZ’s Law Firm Services Group, David’s focus is to assist law firm clients successfully deal with the challenges of today’s competitive environment. With more than 25 years of experience working with law firms of all sizes, he understands the nuances of this distinctive marketplace. The diversity of David’s clients, combined with his experience enables him to understand the unique issues facing law firms and to bring proven solutions to the table.

His group has consulted with more than 700 law firms regarding partner compensation arrangements, succession planning, withdrawal and retirement, profitability improvement, partner retreats, dissolutions, and mergers and acquisitions. He also compiles and publishes the annual RBZ Law Firm Report, a compensation, benefit and billing rate survey of Southern California law firms, and co-hosts a monthly "Law Practice Forum," consisting of managing partners from local area small and medium-sized law firms.

David’s other professional activities include authoring numerous articles for the American Bar Association Journal and California Lawyer, and he co-authored "Financing the Start Up Law Firm," published by the American Bar Association’s Law Practice Management section.

In addition to being a member of the American Bar Association and State Bar of California Law Practice Management sections, David is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

David graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Northridge.
