Yunna Barats
Yunna Barats has over 10 years of public accounting experience, the majority of which have been spent serving the real estate industry, including commercial and residential developers, builders, investors, land entitlement companies, construction and syndicators. As a tax specialist, Yunna consults with clients on tax-deferred exchanges, entity selection, structuring transactions to defer or minimize taxes, tax credit analysis, debt restructuring, reorganization, exit strategies, transfers of wealth between generations, and mergers and acquisitions. Her experience also includes serving technology and middle-market companies, personal service corporations, and family wealth planning. She takes an entrepreneurial approach to problem solving in order to minimize taxes for her clients so they can maintain their competitive edge.
Yunna is licensed as a CPA in both California and Michigan and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. She writes extensively for real estate trade and general business publications, and is a featured speaker on the topic of real estate taxation matters.
Yunna graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Latvia and earned a Master of Science degree in Taxation (with distinction) from Grand Valley State University in Michigan.
